Of the 16 remaining players, I picked 9 of them to reach this round. There were some surprises (upsets) along the way. I've also changed my initial thought on one of my matchups [Osaka/Bencic] even though I picked both players to reach this round.

[Osaka N.] (1) vs. Bencic B. (13) -- Osaka's performance in the last two matches and tournaments shows the form that led to two championships at majors. Bencic having won on a Walkover gives her a bit more sprite into this matchup as her losses in later rounds can be attributed to not always being in top fitness form. Going with Osaka though Bencic leads 3 to 1 in matchups.

Vekic D. (23) vs. [Goerges J.] (26) -- Goerges is not having her typical stellar year but she has owned this matchup - winning all three matches. Vekic has been exceptional this tournament in a very favorable bracket.

[Townsend T.] (Q) vs. Andreescu B. V. (15) --  Upset special. Calling this one on momentum. Townsend will have to speed the game up and hit winners. Andreescu really has not shown any holes in her game but will have to rely on Townsend beating herself.

Ahn K. (WC) vs. [Mertens E.] (25) -- Mertens is another "pro" who is not likely to be victim to an upset. (Redux) For Ahn to pull off an upset, she has to be willing to stay inside the points.
