Another major tournament and again the biggest disappointment is Garbine Muguruza, who lost in the second round. We are not being unfair to Muguruza. Ponder the numbers: 7 of the top 8 seeds made it to the Round of 16, and 4 of the next 8 seeds made it
That is not to say my bracket
is not busted. IT IS!!! I ended up with
a 7 of 16 correct picks for a 43.75% output. Names in red were not my original
selection, so I most likely will not pick them to go too far but I will give
credit where it is due.

BRACKET ONE
1.
S. Williams – No surprise here, as I have Serena winning it all. Looking ahead
at the Quarter Finals, I do worry about Simona Halep.
Yaroslava
Shvedova – I have not seen enough of her in recent tournaments to state how
tough of a matchup she will be fore Serena. To have beaten Shuai Zhang and get
this far at the US Open means, she has a puncher’s chance.
11
C. Suárez Navarro – I really have to ‘put some respect’ to Carla’s name. She
continues to bust my brackets by taking out name players. Halep is a good test
for her and would not be considered too big of an upset
5
S. Halep – Simona is due for a major. Though she struggled earlier today, that
might be something she needed to get out of her system. Whoever is on deck has
to be bring their best. If she beats Serena, look for her to win the
tournament.
